The Kio Kit is designed for schools with poor infrastructure, with a hardened, water-resistant, lockable case, it consists of 40 ruggedized Kio tablets and headphones, with educational content that can be tailored to individual needs. There is a single plug to charge the Kit and one button to power on the entire system, with elegant and robust inductive charging cradles for each tablet.
Cramasie worked with BRCK on the product architecture through pilot builds to the design for manufacture of production units, now being installed in the field in Africa and other remote locations.
We designed for production processes including soft tooled sheet metal, machined components, and plastic injection moulding, using our extensive supply chain to find suitable partners for BRCK. We also prototyped using processes including CNC machining, selective laser sintering, stereolithography and 3-d printing, and facilitated initial prototype and pilot builds for BRCK.
“We have used Cramasie for a number of years now on a number of products and are continually impressed at both their Industrial Design, Mechanical Design and knowledge of how to get things made fast, good and on aggressive schedules. They work equally well independently and integrated with our in-house engineering team.” Reg Orton, CTO BRCK
